Hello, I'm João,

I graduated in clinical psychology from ISPA – Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada de Lisboa and later specialized in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at SPPC – Sociedade Portuguesa de Psicologia Clínica, of which I am currently a specialist member.
I am also a member of the Order of Portuguese Psychologists and the Health Regulatory Authority.
I have always had a parallel taste for research and in 2012 I published my book “Cleavage – a(r)madas forces” by Placebo Editora, which explores the first mechanism of psychic organization – cleavage.
Over the years I have occasionally published other articles in journals in the field of psychoanalytic theory.
In 2021, the desire to open Sigmund – Centro de Psicologia e Desenvolvimento Humano materialized, with the aim of offering therapeutic support based on a humanized philosophy and in a family space.
My practice draws on orthodox psychoanalysis as well as relational psychoanalysis.
I believe in the human being’s potential for change and I am committed to this journey of rediscovering each being’s true identity.
